Staff members and student employees from the Writing Center attended and presented at the 2016 East Central Writing Center Association (ECWCA) conference at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio on March 4-5.
The conference’s theme was “Multiple Modes, Multiple Mediums, Multiple Literacies: Writing Center Work Today.”
Kristine Frye, coordinator of composition, communication, and supplemental instruction; Rachel Abraham (senior, general studies), lead consultant; and Carrie Brooks (graduate student, English), graduate consultant, presented a panel on how IPFW’s Writing Center addresses the needs of the student body through new services. In addition, Rachel Abraham was nominated for the ECWCA 2016 Tutor Leadership Award.
Elizabeth Keller, assistant professor of English and the Writing Center’s faculty liaison also attended the conference with two students enrolled in her ENG W397 Writing Center Theory and Practice course, Sylvain Laliberte (freshman, guest student) and Fadwa Ashur (freshman, Collegiate Connection).
