Stephen Ziegler researches Washington state’s prescribing policies for pain treatment, writes journal article

Stephen Ziegler, associate professor of public policy and recipient of a national pain and society fellowship, spent part of June in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon exploring the impact of the Washington state’s prescribing policies on the treatment of pain. He is also looking at the diffusion of the Washington model across the United States (e.g., Indiana).

Ziegler had testified against the adoption of a variation of the Washington approach at the Indiana state medical board last year. His article about Washington’s model is will appear in the medical journal Pain Medicine.
